More than 30 community water systems in Minnesota experienced a coordinated cyberattack on July 26 and 27. The attacks targeted the operational technology essential for water utilities, prompting an immediate response from state, federal, and local authorities. Minnesota IT Services activated its cybersecurity incident response capabilities, working with partners to share intelligence and assist affected communities.

Officials stated that public health remains protected and there is no indication of any need for residents to change their drinking water usage.
