30 May
Summary
- Meta plans to release up to four new smart glasses models this year.
- An AI pendant, inspired by Limitless's 'Pendant' device, is in testing.
- Meta aims to sell 10 million wearables in the second half of 2026.

Meta is accelerating its wearable technology ambitions, with plans to launch as many as four new smart glasses models before the close of 2026. The tech giant is also developing an AI pendant, expected to enter testing within the next year. This significant expansion of its hardware offerings follows substantial financial losses in its Reality Labs division.
The AI pendant is a logical next step, especially after Meta's acquisition of Limitless, the creator of a wearable AI device that records conversations for transcription and recall. Meta's vision includes integrating personal superintelligence into everyday wearables, with AI-enabled devices forming a key part of this strategy.
Further diversifying its smart glasses lineup, Meta is preparing to release a new model codenamed 'Modelo' as early as June 2026. Additional releases, including 'Luna' and a Ray-Ban refresh named 'RBM2 Refresh,' are anticipated in the fall, with 'Mojito VIP' set for December 2026. These devices will leverage Meta's advanced AI models and the upcoming AI agent, Hatch.
The company also aims to introduce 'Wearables for Work,' a subscription service targeting businesses, and increase global availability of its products to reach a goal of selling 10 million wearables in the latter half of 2026. Meta is seeking to secure at least 10 enterprise clients for its 'Wearables for Work' service.
Reality Labs has faced considerable financial challenges, reporting a $19 billion loss in 2025 alone. However, Meta's leadership has indicated a strategic pivot towards glasses and wearables, with expectations that the division's losses will gradually diminish.
