- Meta unveiled Muse Charm, a handheld AI assistant.
- It allows interaction with Meta's AI without smart glasses.
- The device is expected to ship by the holidays in December.
Meta introduced Muse Charm, a new handheld device that integrates its AI assistant, Muse. This "always-on" gadget is designed for users who do not wear Meta's smart glasses, offering them a direct and rapid way to engage with the AI assistant.
During a recent keynote, CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the device, which was developed based on a handheld concept discussed with his customized AI, Agrippa. Muse itself is presented as a personal agent capable of goal setting, idea sharing, and background task management, with customizable personality and voice options.
Meta's AI assistant, Muse, is available through free usage and paid subscriptions, with potential future revenue streams from transactions facilitated by the assistant. Muse Charm is scheduled for release by the holiday season in December, though pricing details are yet to be announced.
The device enters a competitive market previously marked by mixed reception for similar standalone AI gadgets like Humane's Ai Pin and the Rabbit R1. Muse Charm's primary advantage lies in its integration with the same AI system powering Meta's smart glasses.
