Individuals are reportedly being filmed without their knowledge, with footage often posted on social media. Influencers who collaborated with Meta to promote the glasses, such as Kylie Jenner and Rida Tharana, have faced significant criticism.

Content creators like Oliver Hooson have expressed regret for using the glasses, acknowledging the "ignorant move" and supporting the public's "defence mechanism" against privacy erosion. Hooson noted losing followers after posting a video with the glasses. He distinguished his innocent intention of capturing a point-of-view shot from malicious use.

Reports detail alarming incidents, including demands for money to remove secretly recorded videos and recordings during intimate moments. Police are investigating misuse, and establishments like UK restaurants and pubs have banned the glasses. Despite Meta's claims of built-in privacy features like an LED indicator, multiple complaints suggest these are insufficient.

Deena Lang, another influencer, found the glasses' use problematic after observing "dirty looks" in footage from a cooking class. While acknowledging potential benefits for the visually impaired, she concluded the negatives significantly outweigh the positives, leading her to store the glasses away. Meta maintains its commitment to safety and is updating the technology to prevent tampering.
