Meta's AI Glasses Get Smarter: Track Food, Summarize Messages

Meta is enhancing its smart glasses with new frame styles, prescription lens support, and significant AI advancements. The new Ray-Ban Meta Optics Styles include rectangular Blayzer and rounder Sriber frames, available for preorder in the US starting at $499, with availability beginning April 14, 2026. These updates aim to make the smart glasses more suitable for all-day wear.

Key software updates include Meta AI's enhanced ability to analyze camera feeds for tasks like logging meals by estimating nutritional information. Messaging features now allow users to summarize incoming messages, including from WhatsApp, and respond via voice. These on-device processed and end-to-end encrypted voice interactions will be available to early access users.

Further additions include support for Instagram Reels, a personalized Spotify shortcut, and new games like 2048 and GOAT playable on the glasses. Glanceable widgets for Reminders, Weather, Stocks, and Calendar are also introduced, alongside a new Calendar app. A notable upcoming feature is Neural Handwriting for silent replies to messages across various platforms.

The smart glasses are expanding to more international markets, including Japan, Korea, Singapore, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. These devices will offer live translation for 20 languages. Additionally, dual video recording, combining display and point-of-view footage, is expected to roll out in the spring.
