MakeMyTrip Unveils AI-Powered Semantic Search for Seamless Travel Booking

As of October 16th, 2025, MakeMyTrip has introduced a groundbreaking AI-powered semantic search feature that revolutionizes the way travelers book their accommodations. The new feature allows users to search for hotels and homestays using natural language queries, such as "pet-friendly hotels in Manali with a swimming pool" or "heritage stays near Jaipur forts with parking."

Instead of relying on multiple filters, travelers can now simply describe their preferences, and the system interprets the intent behind the query to provide the most relevant results. The search results include contextual information, including images, AI-curated content from user reviews, and personalized rankings. Additionally, the feature provides AI-generated smart suggestions for commonly searched categories, such as "beachfront hotels in Goa" or "Ooty stays with mountain views," with tags indicating features like "great for families" or "private pools available."

MakeMyTrip's Chief Product Officer, Ankit Khanna, states that the company's goal is to make travel planning as natural as conversation. By introducing this AI-powered semantic search, MakeMyTrip aims to simplify one of the most important parts of the traveler's journey – finding the right stay.

Alongside this new search feature, MakeMyTrip has also recently launched the beta version of Myra, its generative AI-based trip planning assistant. Myra is designed to assist travelers with destination discovery, bookings, and in-trip support through both voice and text in English and Hindi, with plans to expand to additional Indian languages.
