Maingear has unveiled the Retro98, a gaming PC that merges a distinct 1998 aesthetic with the power required for modern gaming. The exterior, reminiscent of beige computer towers from the late 90s, includes features like a working turbo button and hidden front I/O ports, offering a strong dose of nostalgia.
Beneath its retro facade, the Retro98 is equipped to handle demanding contemporary titles. Optional components include up to a Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, GeForce RTX 5090 graphics, 64GB of RAM, and a 4TB NVMe SSD. The top-tier "Alpha" build even features open-loop liquid cooling.
This unique blend of old and new comes at a significant cost, with prices starting at $2,499 for the base model. Higher tiers range from $3,499 to $4,999, and the "Alpha" build commands a price of $9,799. Production is strictly limited to just 32 standard units and six "Alpha" units, ensuring exclusivity for buyers.
