The macOS 27 Golden Gate public beta is now available for M-series Mac users. This beta focuses on performance enhancements and quality-of-life improvements, including a less prominent Liquid Glass design and unified corner window radii. The update introduces Siri's new Expressive Voices in preview, allowing users to customize speech pacing and expressivity for both male and female American accents. The Photos app receives a "Clean Up" tool, capable of removing subjects from images, and the Reframe and Extend features to alter photo composition and framing.
Notable additions also include an overflow button in the Menu Bar to manage hidden items and a redesigned battery percentage indicator. The Golden Gate developer beta has demonstrated stability on various M-series Mac models, suggesting minimal impact on battery life or hardware temperature. While not a radical departure, macOS 27 Golden Gate aims to refine the user experience with practical tweaks and new creative tools for photos.
