Former Latin American General Manager for Uber Eats and COO of Rappi, Caroline Merin, has launched Leona Health, a startup designed to improve how doctors manage patient communications. Recognizing the overwhelming reliance on WhatsApp, Merin developed an AI copilot integrated with doctors' existing messaging platforms. This tool prioritizes urgent messages, suggests responses, and allows team members to assist patients, significantly reducing doctors' administrative burden.
Leona Health announced it successfully raised $14 million in seed funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from other prominent investors and industry leaders. This funding will support the expansion of its services, which are now available to doctors in 14 Latin American countries across 22 medical specialties. The platform aims to streamline communication, allowing physicians to focus on patient care rather than sifting through numerous daily messages.
