At CES 2026, Lenovo showcased a concept gaming laptop, the Legion Pro Rollable, featuring a horizontally expanding screen. This innovative prototype utilizes a rollable OLED panel, allowing its 16-inch display to extend up to 23.8 inches. Gamers can switch between Focus Mode (16 inches), Tactical Mode (21.5 inches), and Arena Mode (23.8 inches) with a simple key combination, providing an ultrawide experience on demand.

The core technology is based on existing Legion Pro 7i chassis, with potential for high-end components like Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and Nvidia RTX 5090 GPUs, though specs may vary if it reaches production. The expansion mechanism is designed to be relatively simple and effective, employing frictionless materials and a tension system to maintain screen quality. However, the prototype exhibits some drawbacks, including increased weight, potential long-term durability concerns, and visible indents on the screen surface.

Further challenges include resolution support, as Windows does not automatically adjust to the expanded screen sizes, requiring manual compromises or game-specific settings.
