New App Stores Everything Online Privately

Emerging in the wake of Pocket's shutdown, Laytr offers a unique approach to saving web content. This new application allows users to archive a wide array of online materials, including articles, recipes, videos, and even PDFs, organizing them into distinct collections called "cases." Developed by indie developer Mostafa Talaat, Laytr prioritizes user privacy by storing all saved data locally on the user's device, meaning no account is necessary and the developer cannot access any saved information.

Content saved within Laytr is accessible across multiple Apple devices, syncing seamlessly through iCloud. While the app offers a free tier with a limit of 30 saved items, full functionality requires a premium subscription, with options for monthly, annual, or a lifetime purchase. Special introductory pricing is available for the lifetime plan until the end of December. Despite its privacy focus, Laytr does not offer features like personalized feeds or AI-powered summaries.
