The Kia EV5, a new five-seater electric SUV, has been reviewed near Hastings, the site of a pivotal historical battle.
This mid-sized SUV is available in three trim levels: Air, GT-Line, and GT-Line S, with prices ranging from £39,346 to £47,145. The EV5 features an 81.4kWh battery and a 214bhp electric motor, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 8.4 seconds and achieving a top speed of 102mph. It offers a claimed range of up to 329 miles.
Inside, the EV5 presents a smart dashboard with a large 30-inch screen, mixing physical buttons and touch commands, along with a head-up display. The vehicle includes practical features such as a generous 566-litre boot, expandable to 1,650 litres with the rear seats folded, and an additional 44 litres in the front trunk. It has earned a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
Charging the EV5 can be done via a 350kW DC fast-charger, reaching 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes. Other charging options include a 50kW DC charger taking just over an hour, and an 11kW AC domestic charger requiring around seven and a half hours. The EV5 comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, with the battery pack covered for eight years.
