Jaguar's new all-electric four-door GT is set to launch, aiming to embrace its heritage rather than shun it, despite recent controversial rebrands. Vehicle engineer director Matt Becker and his team have studied iconic Jaguars to infuse their DNA into the forthcoming EV.
Engineers have driven legendary cars like the E-Type and XJ-C to understand the 'true Jaguar' essence. This has informed the design of the new GT, which features a cab-rear body, expansive bonnet, and low roofline, reminiscent of the E-Type and XJS.
A prototype of the £120,000 electric GT was driven at JLR's testing grounds. The car boasts a powerful 1,000bhp output, advanced torque vectoring, and active air suspension, inspired by the comfort and agility of the 1970s XJ-C.
While the prototype's software is still being refined, initial impressions suggest it successfully replicates classic Jaguar driving characteristics. The production version will be unveiled in September, with first UK deliveries scheduled for early 2027.
