iRobot has launched the Roomba Electro Plus, a departure from its robotic vacuum line. This innovative floor cleaner operates manually, combining vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting capabilities in one device. It uniquely transforms ordinary tap water into a powerful disinfectant, capable of eliminating 99.99 percent of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and germs.
The technology behind the Electro Plus involves converting chlorine naturally present in tap water into hypochlorous acid through an electrical current. iRobot emphasizes that this chemical-free and toxin-free approach ensures safety for households with children and pets. The device is designed for hard floors and features a ThermaClean dock for automatic mop washing, drying, and sanitization.
This new cleaner also incorporates features from iRobot's robotic vacuums, such as the PowerSpin Roller Mop and DirtDetect system, to enhance cleaning efficiency. It offers up to 35 minutes of cordless operation, sufficient to clean approximately 1,292 square feet on a single charge. The Roomba Electro Plus is available for purchase today at $400.
In addition to the Electro Plus, iRobot, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in late 2025, has also released several new robot floor cleaners. These include the high-end Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($1,000) with LiDAR and AI obstacle recognition, and the Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot + AutoEmpty Dock ($700). Other models like the Roomba Plus 575, 515, and 415 Combo Robots range from $600 to $800, all featuring LiDAR mapping and self-emptying docks.
