iPhone Duo Repair Costs: Ouch!

The iPhone Duo launches with a high price tag, starting at $1,999 for the 256GB model and reaching $3,199 for 2TB storage. Repair costs are also substantial, particularly for the inner display which costs $999 to fix without AppleCare coverage. Other repairs range from $49 for minor damage to $1,499 for unspecified "other damage."

Apple offers several AppleCare plans to mitigate these costs. AppleCare Plus with Theft and Loss costs $20 per month or $200 annually, covering unlimited accidental repairs and two theft/loss claims per year, along with Express Replacement Service. AppleCare One, at $20 per month, extends coverage to three devices and adds a third theft-and-loss event.

With AppleCare, repair costs significantly decrease, with battery service being free and most accidental damage repairs capped at $99. Theft or loss incurs a $149 fee. iPhone Duo preorders commence on Friday, with the device available in stores and shipping by October 23rd, 2026. The resilience and performance of Apple's first foldable will be closely watched.
