Apple's iOS 27.3 Beta Unveils Major Standby & Safari Upgrades

The initial developer beta for iOS 27.3 has been released, detailing numerous upcoming enhancements expected to arrive in their final form by December. A key feature migrating from the iPhone Duo is the expanded StandBy mode, which will offer additional customization options for alarm clock-style displays on all compatible iPhones.

This enhanced StandBy mode will include two new clock faces showcasing calendars and local weather, alongside improvements to the existing Photos option. Users will also gain the ability to customize colors and add more complications to every clock face, with support for multiple, swipeable faces.

Apple Music is introducing "Selfie Sing," a karaoke feature allowing users to record themselves singing along to songs from the Apple Music Sing playlist. Safari is also slated for substantial improvements in iOS 27.3, including the introduction of vertical tabs and an adaptive dark mode to enforce color schemes.

Further updates across Apple's ecosystem include enhanced insights in Apple Health, additional strength workouts in Apple Fitness+, and a new shape-generating tool in Freeform. Specific to the iPhone Duo, Reachability and an improved front-display keyboard are also planned. Concurrently, watchOS 27.3 developer beta details the Live Rewind and Siri Recap features, which have raised privacy concerns among some users.
