Apple has released iOS 27.2, a major software update that significantly enhances the iPhone Duo. A key highlight is the integration of Apple Pencil support, a feature previously promised for later in the year. This update also introduces a new 'Edge Light' functionality, intended to optimize video calls by providing better facial illumination.
The new software refines the iPhone Duo's user interface with controls adapted for its 7.6-inch inner and 5.4-inch outer displays. Several major applications already leverage this expanded screen real estate, with more expected to follow. Siri AI capabilities have also been bolstered, enabling suggested actions within Messages and expanding its language support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Further improvements in iOS 27.2 include support for Google's SynthID AI watermark in Photos and Image Playground. Users of the Apple TV app on iPhone will find user profiles, while the Podcasts app sees changes to its episode management. A new Apple Music logo and dual-capture support for FaceTime group calls are also part of this comprehensive update. Corresponding updates have been released for macOS, watchOS, visionOS, tvOS, and HomePod.
