iOS 27: Foldable support & Siri gets major AI upgrade

iOS 27 is poised for a September 2026 release, likely coinciding with the iPhone 18 Pro. This update focuses on quality-of-life improvements and new features, with developer previews starting June 8, 2026. A significant development is the introduction of support for Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, which will feature a 7.8-inch display and enhanced multitasking capabilities.

The virtual assistant, Siri, is slated for a major overhaul, evolving into a more AI-powered, chatbot-like entity. Siri 2.0 will boast greater contextual awareness, understanding on-screen content and user history for more personalized interactions. This includes improved app integration, allowing Siri to perform actions across different applications.

Additionally, iOS 27 is expected to bring a revamped Calendar app and a significantly improved Shortcuts feature. The Shortcuts app will utilize Apple Intelligence to create automated routines from simple descriptions. While the controversial 'Liquid Glass' design will remain, users will gain more control with a slider to fine-tune its transparency and highlights.
