Summary
- Intel's Core Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU offers significant performance gains.
- The 270K Plus CPU offers substantial cost savings over other models.
- New Intel CPUs still trail AMD's top gaming performance chips.

Intel has launched its new consumer desktop CPUs, the Core Ultra 200S Plus, also known as Arrow Lake Refresh processors. These chips supplement the existing 2024 lineup. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, a top offering from this series, delivers impressive performance, frequently surpassing the higher-ranked Core Ultra 9 285K.
In content creation tasks, the 270K Plus shows notable improvements, offering up to a 12 percent performance gain over the 285K in certain benchmarks. Gaming performance also sees an uplift, with increased frame rates in titles like F1 2024 and Cyberpunk 2077. However, Intel's new chips continue to trail behind AMD's X3D processors in gaming.
Despite its performance advantages, the 270K Plus consumes more power for heavy multithreaded tasks compared to the 285K. Yet, its most striking feature is its affordability. Priced at $299, it offers substantial savings compared to its predecessors and even competes favorably on value against AMD's offerings, allowing builders to allocate funds towards better motherboards or DDR5 RAM.
The Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs also support the Intel Binary Optimization Tool (IBOT), a feature that can further enhance performance in supported games. This tool requires manual activation and is currently available for a limited number of titles, with future support for Linux planned.
