28 May
Summary
- Intel introduces Arc G-Series processors for Windows 11 gaming handhelds.
- Chips use Panther Lake architecture with 14 CPU cores and Xe graphics.
- Acer, MSI, and OneXPlayer will feature the new Intel gaming chips.

Intel has officially introduced its Arc G-Series processors, built on the 'Panther Lake' architecture, to challenge AMD's dominance in the gaming handheld market. These new chips are designed to power Windows 11 gaming handhelds, with initial models including the Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extreme.
Intel asserts that its Arc G3 chips, manufactured using the Intel 18A node, will not force gamers to compromise on battery life or graphics. Each processor features 14 CPU cores, comprising high-performance cores, 'Efficient cores' for multi-threaded tasks, and 'Low-Power Efficient-cores' for energy conservation. Graphics are handled by integrated GPUs with Intel Xe cores, supported by Intel's Xe Super Sampling (XeSS 3) technology for enhanced frame rates.
Acer's upcoming Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld will utilize these new chips, boasting an 8-inch 120 Hz display and an 80Wh battery. MSI's Claw 8 EX AI+ and OneXPlayer are also set to incorporate Intel's Arc processors.
Despite the promising hardware, pricing and official benchmarks for the Intel-powered handhelds have yet to be released. This information will be crucial in determining their market appeal, especially given recent memory shortage-driven price increases for devices like the OLED Steam Deck.
