India officially became a member of Pax Silica, a significant international strategic alliance initiated last year by the United States. This alliance is dedicated to securing global supply chains for Artificial Intelligence and semiconductors, aiming to reduce reliance on nations outside the pact.
The move is set to enhance bilateral partnerships, particularly in the production of critical minerals and advancements within the rapidly evolving Artificial Intelligence landscape. The overarching goal is to cultivate a secure and robust global technological ecosystem.
This agreement was finalized on the final day of the India AI Impact Summit. The five-day event brought together more than 600 AI-focused startups, business leaders, innovators, and policymakers.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted India's trusted position in global foreign policy, attributed to its vast talent pool. He emphasized the importance of Pax Silica for strengthening semiconductor supply chains, manufacturing, and chip design.
