These devices, purchased online for approximately £20, can install malware, capture keystrokes, and steal sensitive information like bank passwords.

Experts explain that plugging these devices into laptops or TVs creates an open door for criminals to access personal data, potentially leading to identity theft and significant financial loss. The fraud can occur instantly upon device connection, with malware potentially spreading through home Wi-Fi networks to other connected devices.

Authorities and cybersecurity experts urge immediate removal of these illegal devices and recommend changing passwords for all sensitive online accounts, including banking and payment services, and enabling multi-factor authentication.
