Launching today, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max prioritizes camera capabilities, marking the company's 10th anniversary.
In a significant collaboration, Honor partnered with ARRI, the professional cinema camera manufacturer, to enhance the Magic 9 Pro Max's imaging science and software. This partnership brings ARRI's expertise to the device, offering features like 14 ARRI filter presets and support for 4K 60fps "Cinema Grade" recording with 10-bit color depth.
The phone's camera hardware is equally impressive, featuring a 200 MP main sensor with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/1.57 aperture. It also includes a 200 MP telephoto lens and a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, complemented by a 55 MP selfie camera. This setup significantly surpasses the camera specifications of current leading smartphones.
Advanced stabilization technology is also a highlight, with optical image stabilization meeting CIPA 8.0 standards and a unique 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization system. The Magic 9 Pro Max also introduces a "cinema-grade" directional microphone, capable of capturing sound from up to 20 meters away while reducing background noise.
Other notable specifications include a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, up to 16 GB RAM, 1 TB storage, and a substantial 8,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery. The device runs MagicOS 11 based on Android 17.
While the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max appears to be a formidable device for photography enthusiasts, it is launching today in China for approximately $970 USD. Consumers in the U.S. will need to explore third-party import options, as Honor devices are not officially sold there.
