13 Nov
Summary
- Google's NotebookLM now offers deep research capabilities
- The tool can browse hundreds of websites to generate detailed reports
- NotebookLM can access data from Google Sheets, Word, and PDFs

As of November 2025, Google has significantly enhanced the capabilities of its NotebookLM AI-powered app. Nearly a year after first introducing deep research features to its chatbot, the tech giant is now bringing those same powerful tools to NotebookLM.
The updated app allows users to task NotebookLM with generating an extensive report on a single topic. The AI will then scour hundreds of websites on the user's behalf, compiling its findings into a multi-page document. Users can also instruct NotebookLM to seek out specific online sources, and the app will recommend relevant articles, papers, and websites.
Furthermore, Google has expanded the data sources NotebookLM can access. The app can now pull information from Google Sheets, Microsoft Word documents, and PDFs stored in Google Drive. Users can even add Drive files directly by sharing the URL.
These latest upgrades to NotebookLM come on the heels of Google recently giving the app the ability to generate flashcards and quizzes. The timing of the update is fortuitous, as it provides users with an even more powerful research tool to complement NotebookLM's growing suite of capabilities.
