- History changes aim to improve AI models and personalize suggestions.

Google is implementing a new setting called "Search Services History" to manage how user interactions with Search are saved. This update will encompass images, files, audio, and video content used during searches, such as those from Google Lens, voice queries, and real-time Search Live tool recordings.
Users have the option to disable this new setting and disable the "Save Media" feature if they prefer not to have these interactions saved. The company states that the collected data will aid in providing, developing, and improving its services, including its AI models.
Personalized suggestions and advertisements will be offered if the "Personalized Recommendations" setting is enabled. These new settings are now distinct from the previous Web & App Activity option. Previously, search-related interactions and some media saving toggles were included there.
For users who have already opted out of saving their search history via Web & App Activity, the Search Services History will remain switched off automatically. Personalization preferences will carry over as these changes are rolled out over the coming months.
