Google Messages Redesign: Easier Actions Emerge

Google Messages has begun a stable rollout of its redesigned interaction menu, a feature previously limited to beta users since August. This server-controlled update places commonly used actions closer to the message bubble. The new floating menu replaces the old top toolbar, making it easier to access functions like Reply, Forward, Copy, and Delete without stretching a thumb. This improvement is particularly beneficial for users with larger smartphones.

Further enhancing usability, the update also introduces selective text copying. Users can now long-press a message and drag selection handles to copy only the specific text needed, such as an address or code, rather than the entire message. While the rollout is ongoing and may not be immediate for all users, its wider availability suggests that Google Messages' practical quality-of-life upgrades are finally reaching a broader audience.
