Never Get Lost: Google Messages Adds Live Location Sharing
28 Feb
Summary
- Google Messages now offers live location sharing for Android users.
- Users can choose sharing duration from one hour to custom periods.
- The feature updates location dynamically, unlike static pins.

Android users can now easily share their real-time location through Google Messages, simplifying meetups in crowded environments. This new functionality builds upon the existing static location pin feature, offering dynamic updates as the user moves. The feature allows sharing with individuals or groups within the familiar Google Messages interface.
Users access the real-time option alongside the one-time location share. Permissions for location access are required only on the first use. Before sharing, users can select a duration, including one hour, until midnight, indefinitely until stopped, or a custom period under 24 hours. The ability to stop sharing at any moment provides full control.
