Google Maps Now Shows Fuel Prices!

For the first time, Google Maps will display real-time fuel prices, a move launched today. Drivers searching for nearby petrol stations will now see the cost of both petrol and diesel. The Government hails this as a significant step in tackling the cost of living crisis, estimating it could save households approximately £40 per year through enhanced price transparency.

This initiative comes as fuel prices have remained exceptionally high, with diesel exceeding £2 per litre last week and petrol prices also elevated. Although prices have slightly decreased due to lower wholesale costs, they are still considerably above normal levels. This new feature on Google Maps aims to empower drivers to find the best deals and encourage more competitive pricing among retailers.
