Google Images Redesign Mirrors Pinterest for Discovery

Google Images has been redesigned to function more like a dynamic, browsable gallery, drawing inspiration from Pinterest's discovery model. The platform now features a "For You" section that updates in real-time with personalized image suggestions based on user interests and browsing history.

Users can curate their discoveries by saving images into "collections," allowing them to revisit inspiration for various projects. This update aims to boost user engagement on Google platforms. Furthermore, Google is introducing an AI image generation feature directly within Search.

This new capability enables users to create custom visuals from text prompts for highly specific ideas. The AI image generator, powered by Google's Nano Banana model, is designed for moments when a desired image doesn't already exist online. It also assists in visualizing concepts, such as reimagining room designs or themes.

The redesign and the AI image generation feature are rolling out gradually over the coming weeks in English for desktop users in the U.S. and for all regions supporting AI image creation in AI Mode, respectively. Users are required to be signed into a Google Account to access these new features.
