Pixel Phones Get Major AI Overhaul with Gemini

Google's "Made By Google" event highlighted the expansive integration of its AI assistant, Gemini, which has rapidly grown to over one billion monthly users. The company is focusing on making Gemini a genuinely useful tool, moving beyond its previous reputation as a "cool promise."

Pixel phones are set to receive significant AI upgrades. These include enhanced live translation for podcasts and videos, and a new ASL-to-text accessibility feature. Additionally, the Rambler feature will refine speech-to-text by filtering filler words and interpreting user intent for clearer output.

Google is also revamping its Magic Cue feature into Proactive Assistance. This interface will offer automatic context, suggestions, and response generation based on message content. For instance, it can provide restaurant reviews and directions when a friend recommends a place.

Gemini's reach extends to smartwatches, with Pixel Watch users gaining one-tap Proactive Assistance and AI-powered health coaching features. The aim is to let Gemini handle routine tasks, allowing users to disengage from their screens.
