Google Assistant, the voice-controlled AI that manages smart devices and provides information, is set to be replaced by Google's new AI platform, Gemini. This transition marks a significant evolution for Google's smart home ecosystem.
Gemini is expected to offer more natural and interactive user experiences on Google Nest speakers and displays. The platform's integration is also planned for Nest cameras, potentially adding new capabilities. Google has begun introducing Gemini, with both free and paid subscription options available alongside new hardware releases.
This move represents a strategic shift, as Google Nest products have been the primary brand for Google's smart home devices since 2019. The Google Home app will continue to serve as the central control hub for all devices under the Nest brand.
