GMKtec's NucBox M5 Ultra emerges as a notable value proposition in the mini PC market, with a barebones configuration priced at $330. This compact system is powered by an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 7730U processor, which, despite its 7000-series designation, is a refresh of older Zen 3 architecture. The device includes crucial upgrades like dual 2.5GbE ports and Wi-Fi 6E. Users will need to provide their own DDR4 laptop RAM and M.2 SSDs, with two SODIMM slots and two M.2 2280 slots available for expansion. The M5 Ultra supports up to three simultaneous displays and offers robust connectivity options including USB 3.2 Gen 2 and a 10 Gbps USB port. While the underlying CPU architecture is not the latest, the combination of dual-gigabit Ethernet, customizable storage, and a low entry price point positions it as an appealing option for users seeking flexibility and performance in 2026.
