Ghost AI: Your Personal Computer for Intelligent Agents

Zain Javaid, inspired by the advancements in AI, has founded Ghost, a company dedicated to developing personal AI hardware. After a year in development, Ghost has announced its official launch and secured $11 million in seed funding. The company's first product, Core, is a personal computer specifically engineered to host AI agents.

Core's primary function is to centralize a user's digital information, from desktop files to smart home devices, into a single, secure hardware unit. This allows AI agents to run continuously, perform tasks, and understand the user's life without constant prompting. The device includes its own GPU, software layer, browser, and filing system, offering a superior experience to running models on general-purpose hardware.

The Core computer is priced at $3,499, with pre-orders opening on Monday and shipping expected in the last week of October. It functions as a screenless 'brain box' accessible via a phone or app, with an optional voice mode. Users can install various AI models, and Ghost plans to provide over-the-air updates for new model generations.

Ghost emphasizes privacy and security, ensuring all personal data and AI models run locally and are encrypted. The company's manufacturing is currently handled at their San Francisco facility, with a focus on delivering a user-friendly, setup-free smart computer. A firewall monitors outgoing network requests to prevent unauthorized data exfiltration.
