Gemini Personal Intelligence Now Free for US Users
17 Mar
Summary
- Google's Personal Intelligence feature is now accessible to all US users.
- Free-tier users can access personalization via AI Mode in Search and Gemini.
- Personal Intelligence uses connected apps to personalize Gemini's responses.

Google has made its Personal Intelligence feature available to all users in the United States. Previously restricted to subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra, this expansion now includes free-tier users accessing Gemini through AI Mode in Search, Chrome, and the dedicated Gemini app. This functionality is currently limited to personal Google accounts, excluding business, enterprise, and education users.
Personal Intelligence enhances Gemini's capabilities by integrating data from connected Google applications like YouTube, Google Photos, and Gmail. This allows Gemini to offer tailored responses and suggestions automatically, eliminating the need for users to provide explicit context in their prompts. For example, Gemini might suggest products based on recent purchases or offer technical support informed by existing device data. Users retain control, as the feature is opt-in and can be disabled or have connected apps disconnected at any time. Google has clarified that data from Gmail or Photos is used with limited information for training purposes, specifically prompts and model responses, and not the entirety of these libraries.
