Fortnite Returns to Google Play: Legal Battles End!
17 Mar
Summary
- Fortnite is available on Google Play globally starting March 19.
- Epic Games and Google settled their long-running disputes in November.
- Google reduced its Play Store in-app payment cut to 10-20%.
Fortnite is set to be available globally on the Google Play Store starting March 19, 2026, coinciding with the launch of the game's next season. This follows a significant settlement reached between Epic Games and Google in November 2025.
The popular game had been absent from Google's storefront since 2020 after Epic Games attempted to bypass the platform's 30% commission on in-app purchases. This action led to Epic initiating legal proceedings against both Google and Apple.
As part of the recent agreement, Google announced earlier this month that it would reduce its commission rate for in-app payments, lowering it from 30% to a range of 10% to 20%. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed Fortnite's return to the Play Store following this settlement, ending a protracted period of dispute.
