29 Jun
Summary
- Modern phones recharge significantly faster than older models.
- Many phones now reach over 70% charge in just 30 minutes.
- Faster charging speeds require compatible, separately purchased adapters.
Charging your phone overnight might be an outdated habit. Testing across 115 phones since 2023 reveals a significant leap in charging speeds, with most modern handsets able to replenish substantial battery life in just 30 minutes. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra reached 76% in 30 minutes, a notable increase from its predecessors. Apple's iPhone 17 Pro achieved 74% in the same test duration.
Even budget-friendly phones now offer impressive charging capabilities. Google's Pixel 10A and Motorola's Moto G Stylus (2025 and 2026 models) demonstrate rapid charging, with the latter reaching 74% in 30 minutes. This advancement means morning charging is often sufficient to last the entire day.
However, achieving these fast charging speeds requires the right equipment. Phone manufacturers increasingly exclude charging adapters from phone packaging. Users must research their phone's maximum charging speed and purchase a compatible adapter to take advantage of these advancements. USB-C adapters are becoming versatile, often capable of charging both phones and laptops.
