Google's Play Store is investigating the fraudulent app.

A concerning fake version of WhatsApp has been discovered on the Google Play Store, accumulating over half a million downloads. This impostor app, developed by "Agment Assets sallu," replicates the genuine WhatsApp's appearance, featuring the same icon, screenshots, and descriptive text. Its presence on the platform has raised significant questions about app review and security protocols.

The cloned application's listing remains active, despite its deceptive nature. Unlike the legitimate WhatsApp, which boasts over 10 billion downloads and a vast number of reviews, the fake version has managed to obscure user feedback. Reports suggest the developer may have leveraged Google Play's Early Access program to disable public reviews, a tactic that could have prevented widespread user awareness and warnings against downloading the fraudulent app.
