In a significant law enforcement operation, Europol has coordinated an international coalition to dismantle three major cybercrime operations. The operation, dubbed "Operation Endgame," targeted the Rhadamantys infostealer malware, the Elysium botnet, and the VenomRAT remote access trojan.
Authorities say these three cybercrime tools "played a key role in international cybercrime." As part of the operation, police seized more than 1,000 servers and arrested the main suspect behind VenomRAT in Greece on November 3rd. The dismantled malware infrastructure was found to contain several million stolen credentials from hundreds of thousands of infected computers, with many victims unaware of the infection.
The Rhadamantys infostealer, in particular, had access to over 100,000 cryptocurrency wallets potentially worth millions of euros. Rhadamantys emerged as a major threat after the earlier takedown of the Lumma infostealer, showing how cybercriminals quickly adapt to law enforcement actions by adopting new, less-known tools.
