Satellite Merger Creates Global Mobile Network
17 Aug
Summary
- Lynk Global and Omnispace merged to form Elveo Mobile.
- The new entity leverages S-band spectrum for expanded D2D services.
- Regulatory approvals for the merger were completed recently.

Lynk Global and Omnispace have completed their merger, now operating under the new name Elveo Mobile. This significant development follows the announcement made in October and has now cleared all required U.S. and foreign regulatory hurdles.
Elveo Mobile combines Omnispace's dedicated S-band spectrum with Lynk's existing direct-to-device (D2D) platform. Initially, Lynk provided messaging and alerts via its seven satellites. However, the integration of dedicated spectrum is poised to support more data-intensive applications.
This move mirrors strategies by competitors like SpaceX and AST SpaceMobile. Elveo's CEO has indicated plans for upcoming strategic partnerships and investments, following existing agreements with over 50 mobile network operators across more than 60 countries. Further announcements regarding manufacturing and launch are anticipated.
