Dyson's Camera Toothbrush Cleans Gaps

Dyson has introduced the CameraJet, a revolutionary electric toothbrush priced at $499, marking a significant advancement in oral hygiene technology. This device uniquely integrates a camera directly into the brush head, offering users a live video stream of their mouth through Wi-Fi connection to a smartphone.

The integrated camera, featuring a 100,000-pixel resolution and a strobing light, works with an AI algorithm. This system, called Gap Optical Targeting, analyzes up to 28 live images per second to detect interdental gaps.

Upon detecting a gap, the CameraJet instantly emits a cone-shaped blast of mouthwash, effectively cleaning the space and functioning as a flossing alternative. This method uses a wider blast than traditional water flossers, ensuring plaque removal with less pressure, thus being gentler on enamel and gums.

Further enhancing its functionality, the replaceable brush heads feature a combination of soft outer bristles for gumline cleaning and stiffer inner bristles for stain removal. The brush heads oscillate nearly 1,000 times per second with constantly changing angles for optimal cleaning. An RFID tag tracks usage, signaling when a replacement is needed approximately every three months.

The toothbrush incorporates an air bladder system within its 12.5ml mouthwash reservoir to ensure consistent pumping pressure, regardless of orientation. Its docking station not only recharges the device but also automatically refills the mouthwash reservoir in just three seconds. Dyson plans to offer its own specialized non-foaming toothpaste and low-foaming mouthwash to further optimize the camera's visibility.
