AMD GPUs Now Run Nvidia's DLSS 5 Mod!
20 Oct
Summary
- A mod enables DLSS 5 photorealism on AMD Radeon GPUs.
- Performance sees a frame-rate hit but is now playable.
- Mod successfully replicates photorealism, though some effects may not work.

A mod has been developed by Daniel Blanco that enables Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology, known for its photorealistic effects, to run on AMD's Radeon GPUs. This allows users of AMD's latest generations of graphics cards to experience DLSS 5 features, which are officially exclusive to Nvidia hardware.
Initially, the mod resulted in a considerable decrease in frame rates. However, Blanco has actively worked on refining the mod, releasing new versions that improve performance to a playable state. On hardware like the Radeon RX 9070 XT, users can now achieve frame rates between 90 to 100 FPS at 1080p resolution.
The mod's output quality is reported to be very similar to DLSS 5 on native hardware, although certain effects might not function perfectly. Despite these minor imperfections, the mod has gained traction, with users sharing impressive screenshots via a dedicated Discord server.
This unofficial support for DLSS 5 on AMD hardware comes as AMD's own comparable technology is rumored to be limited to next-generation GPUs. Currently, only NBA 2K27 officially supports DLSS 5, with Hogwarts Legacy set to add support on November 5. The leak of the DLSS 5 file in late August has been instrumental in enabling modders to bring this capability to various games.
