Solar-Powered Smart Lock Never Needs Charging
4 Jul
Summary
- Smart lock features a built-in solar panel for continuous charging.
- Unlocking options include fingerprint and facial recognition.
- The lock integrates with Alexa and Google Home, but lacks Matter support.

The Desloc V150 Plus smart lock tackles the perennial issue of battery power by integrating a solar panel directly into its exterior design. This innovative feature aims to ensure the lock remains operational without the need for manual battery replacements or charging.
Beyond its solar capabilities, the V150 Plus provides multiple convenient unlocking methods, including fingerprint and facial recognition, alongside traditional app-based control. The lock is powered by Desloc's existing app, connecting via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and offers features like remote locking/unlocking and access logs.
Integration with smart home ecosystems is limited, however, as it only supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home, notably omitting Matter compatibility. This restricts its use with platforms like Apple HomeKit.
The solar panel charges the internal battery, though its charging speed is moderate. For emergencies, a USB-C port is available. Biometric scanners can be somewhat slow, making the face scanner potentially more of a backup than a primary unlock method.
The Desloc V150 Plus is currently available through a Kickstarter campaign, with retail availability expected in August. It holds an IP65 rating for weather resistance and BHMA Grade 3 certification for deadbolt strength.
