Denon Elevates Whole-Home Audio with New Smart Speakers
24 Mar
Summary
- New Denon Home speakers feature Dolby Atmos support.
- Denon's HEOS ecosystem competes directly with Sonos.
- Speakers offer balanced sound and analog device connectivity.

Denon has expanded its whole-home audio offerings with the introduction of three new smart speakers: the Home 200, 400, and 600. These devices, featuring a modern aesthetic, bring Dolby Atmos support to Denon's HEOS ecosystem, aiming to compete with rivals like Sonos. The Home 200 and Home 400 models have been updated with enhanced acoustic structures and connectivity options, including AirPlay, Bluetooth, and USB-C. They also provide 3.5mm line-in ports for analog devices and allow for EQ adjustments.
The Home 200 delivers a spacious soundstage with clear imaging, while the larger Home 400 offers detailed sound with tight bass. Denon's HEOS ecosystem functions effectively for seamless room-to-room audio, similar to Sonos, though Sonos offers a wider range of compatible soundbars. Denon speakers are noted for their balanced tone, emphasizing mid and higher frequencies, and supporting higher-quality playback, making them ideal for critical listening. Sonos products, conversely, exhibit a stronger midrange and bass, better suited for home theater and entertainment.
Denon's strategy appears to target users seeking high-fidelity smart speakers for their entire home, with home theater expansion as a future consideration. While Denon currently has only one HEOS soundbar, it compensates with numerous HEOS-powered AV receivers and amplifiers. The new Home speakers represent a significant upgrade after a five-year hiatus, proving to be capable additions to any home audio setup.
