Dell XPS 16: A New Era of Laptop Battery Life
26 Mar
Summary
- Dell XPS 16 achieves nearly 27 hours of web browsing.
- The laptop uses as little as 1.5 watts at idle.
- LG Display's new 1-120Hz variable refresh rate panel is key.

The Dell XPS 16 is emerging as a leader in laptop battery performance, showcasing an exceptional 27 hours of web browsing in recent tests. This impressive longevity is attributed to its innovative LG Display panel, which features a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. This allows the screen to conserve power by reducing its refresh rate when high speeds are not needed.
During testing with an Intel Panther Lake chip, the XPS 16 demonstrated remarkable efficiency, drawing as little as 1.5 watts at idle. This performance rivals and, in some cases, exceeds that of leading MacBook models. The technology behind this breakthrough, LG Display's Oxide 1Hz LCD panel, is now in mass production, with an OLED version planned for 2027. Intel is also collaborating with other manufacturers, like BOE, to bring similar 1Hz refresh rate technology to more computers, indicating a broader industry shift towards enhanced power efficiency in laptops.
