4 Oct
Summary
- Delhi's EV charging infrastructure is preparing for increased adoption.
- 382 sites approved for electric vehicle charging stations.
- New network supports mandates for 100% electric vehicle registrations.

Delhi's electric vehicle charging infrastructure is set to undergo a major expansion, with 382 sites receiving approval from the Ministry of Heavy Industries. This initiative is a crucial step in preparing the capital's charging network for the anticipated growth in electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
The Delhi government identified 456 potential sites, and after thorough reassessment over the past three months, 382 have been officially approved. These sites have been categorized to accommodate two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers separately.
This development is vital for meeting upcoming statutory mandates, including the requirement for 100% electric registrations for three-wheelers and N1 light commercial vehicles starting January 1, 2027. Furthermore, two-wheelers will follow suit with a 100% electric registration mandate from April 1, 2028.
KPMG has been engaged as the Project Management Unit to oversee this comprehensive site reassessment. The focus is on building a sustainable, future-ready infrastructure that eliminates range anxiety and supports Delhi's ambitious EV Policy deadlines.
