The iconic Commodore brand has been revived with a striking Cyberpunk 2077-themed Commodore 77. This special edition reimagines the classic Commodore 64 Ultimate, presenting it as an artifact from Night City. Its exterior is deliberately distressed, featuring graffiti, scuffs, and partial stickers, creating an authentic dystopian feel. The machine boasts a custom neon power light and a redesigned boot screen that enhances its futuristic, gritty appearance.
This unique collaboration includes a special 'Arasaka' branded cartridge containing a demo designed to expand the Cyberpunk universe's lore. Developed by the Polish C64 group Arise, the demo features a soundtrack by chiptune artist LukHash. The Commodore 77 also comes with collectible stickers, pins, unique packaging, and a themed user guide.
The resurrected Commodore, led by YouTuber Christian 'Perifractic' Simpson, focuses on FPGA recreations of classic models. The Commodore 64 Ultimate offers modern features like HDMI, USB, and WiFi while maintaining backward compatibility with original accessories. The new models utilize original tooling, ensuring an authentic build. The Commodore 77 is available for pre-order at $377, though a release date has not yet been announced.
