China's leading memory chip manufacturer, CXMT, will supply its newest LPDDR6 DRAM chips for Xiaomi's upcoming flagship folding smartphone, the 18 Fold. This collaboration signifies CXMT's advancement in mobile memory technology, bringing them closer to global industry leaders. The new folding phone is scheduled to be released in September.
The LPDDR6 chips are CXMT's most advanced offering for mobile devices and will support Xiaomi's new in-house 3-nanometre handset processor, the Xring O3. This development follows CXMT's mass production of LPDDR5 chips less than a year prior. Recently, CXMT reported a strong financial performance, with a significant profit turnaround and an 874% surge in revenue to 150.3 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
In parallel with its technological and financial achievements, CXMT is also involved in legal proceedings. The company initiated a lawsuit against the Pentagon on Friday after being placed on a list of entities accused of aiding China's military. The Pentagon has declined to comment on the ongoing litigation.
