Separately, a Guardian investigation, which contributed to Meta (formerly Facebook) losing a multimillion-dollar legal battle, detailed how the tech giant failed to prevent child trafficking on its platforms. Evidence gathered over two years revealed the use of Facebook and Instagram, including private messaging features, by traffickers to buy and sell children.
