Anthropic Upgrades Claude Design with Deeper App Integration

Anthropic has significantly upgraded its AI design assistant, Claude Design, enhancing its integration with other Anthropic applications. The updated tool now supports starting design work from a local codebase, ensuring generated assets align with existing front-facing products. A key new feature allows users to hand off designs to Claude Code for interface programming without starting from scratch.

Additionally, users can now bypass Claude Design entirely by initiating design tasks directly within Claude Code using the /design command. The update also includes a more flexible import tool capable of building design systems from GitHub and raw files, along with a refined image editor for finer control over element manipulation.

For organizational users, a new admin role has been introduced to approve and lock down edits. Quality of life improvements include a new shortcut to access Claude Design from the desktop app's sidebar and web browser. Anthropic has also consolidated usage limits across its products, with most users expected to hit them less frequently, while also improving token efficiency and reducing errors.

The company noted that over a million users engaged with Claude Design in its initial week. This release suggests Anthropic is moving Claude Design out of its preview phase, addressing user feedback and enhancing its utility.
