3 Mar
Summary
- Claude now offers free conversation memory to users.
- Anthropic faces a contract dispute with the US government.
- The Pentagon labeled Anthropic a 'supply chain risk'.

Anthropic is enhancing its AI chatbot, Claude, by offering its conversation memory feature at no cost to users. This allows Claude to recall and utilize information from previous interactions to inform its current outputs, building on earlier memory capabilities. The company has also made it easier for users to import conversations from competing chatbots.
This new free feature coincides with significant governmental scrutiny. Anthropic is currently in a contract dispute with the US government. Last Friday, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth identified Anthropic as a 'supply chain risk' after the company declined a contract that could have involved using its AI models for mass surveillance or in autonomous weapons. Anthropic has stated its intention to challenge this designation.
